What's the go with student flights? Empty What's the go with student flights?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with student flights. I'm potentially leaving from Australia to Bali in a few months but don't want to lock myself into a flight so early. Do they tend to book out faster than normal flights? Will I be able to book one possibly a week before it leaves? Thanks
